None of this will come as huge shock to any of you that are even remotely familiar with the food industry, so really, just think of these as six more reasons to stop eating processed food.

This is an interrobang. It should have become a punctuation mark, but it never really caught on. Maybe it will in the future, but probably not. The keyboard is pretty well standardized by this point, and people seem happy enough to say, “He hooked up with Sheila?!?!??!”
I think about the interrobang a lot when I am thinking about the habit we have, as a species, of assuming that the world in which we live was entirely inevitable—that we as contemporary humans are just along for the ride. But the truth is we all make up the world together as we go. We choose ?! over the interrobang. I know it feels like someone else has made this decision for us. But the truth is that together, we are making the decision right now.
I WILL start using this from now on in my handwriting!

Panama Eats: Napoli, and my Saturday!
(Scroll down for my review of Napoli)
Finally, a weekend to relax. I am on vacation and working 40 hours a week at a job that bores me to tears. Sometimes the stress of the work week seeps into my weekend life and that’s when I am the least happy. I’m not complaining. I wouldn’t trade my time here with my own little view of the ocean, the smell of the surf in my hair, and the constant 27*C weather for a summer at home in an un-air-conditioned house with a job that bores me just as much in a city with much less to do. No, no, I’m not complaining. It’s just nice to get a break once in a while.
This weekend my boyfriend spoiled me a little. He took me out to brunch at a cute little chain called “Crepes and Waffles,” which, you guessed it, serves crepes and waffles.
I got the “Cleopatra” crepe…
Two thin folded crepes stuffed with raspberry jam, topped with deliciously ripe bananas and strawberries, served with two dollops of whipped cream and a big scoop of blackberry ice cream! So delicious! Definitely my new favourite ice cream!
Trevor got a simple chocolate chip waffle with whipped cream…
Yum! Sorry about the pictures guys- we forgot and dug in before taking any! Good thing I remembered while there was this much left!
We then lugged our full and contented stomachs to the Panama canal- specifically the Panama locks. We have locks in the Ottawa canal back in Canada (hello! Longest skating rink in the world!), but the size of those is nothing compared to those of the Panama canal. Honestly, it was breathtaking and mind blowing. We got to see a ship pass through the locks completely, and the crew on board waved at us. It was a fun time.

The Santiago Express being lowered and pulled through the canal.
Oh and they had a really cute museum as well…

We spent the day watching ships and looking through the deceptively large museum (each floor is pretty small, but there are four floors! At the end of each floor we were always pleasantly surprised to find another escalator and yet another exhibit.)
Panama Eats: Napoli
At last, it was time for dinner. We had decided on pizza, but while driving to go pick it up, we passed a restaurant we had been really wanting to try. Napoli. An Italian restaurant serving only Italian-inspired foods- no fried chicken here! (Trust me, that is remarkable seeing as EVERY OTHER RESTAURANT offers bland, unappetizing fried chicken on their menu- regardless of the cuisine.)
We ordered two appetizers, delicious fried mozzarella cheese sticks with marinara sauce, and garlic bread. The garlic bread came in an over-sized quantity and for the price ($1.75) it was very good. It was a little thin and dry though, and I probably wouldn’t get it again.

I had spaghetti bolognese, and while we all know that isn’t classically Italian, it was very delicious. You could tell that the sauce was simmered for a long time- all the flavours came out beautifully. I wouldn’t add anything to it, not even salt (and that’s saying something)!

Trevor had a personal sized pepperoni pizza. He said, while it didn’t reinvent the wheel, it was still pretty good pizza.
We were so stuffed by the time we finished, we had to waddle out of there. Plenty of leftovers in hand. It was a very good dinner.
To finish the evening off, we went to a showing of Horrible Bosses- have you seen it? I highly recommend it. The funniest movie I have seen in a long, long time.
Also some news: it appears that I will be heading to the Bahamas on July 30th- August 3rd. During that time I will have limited internet access, so I’ve decided on having a couple guest posts- you’re in for a treat!
Enjoy!And don’t forget to leave a comment!
